SIUE Athletics
subscribes to the principles of good sportsmanship, equal
opportunity, compliance, and integrity. These values are beneficial
to the physical, intellectual, and social experiences of the entire
University community. Intercollegiate Athletics complements the
instructional research and service programs of the University and
functions within the framework of the University's overall mission
and goals. SIUE is committed to the principle of institutional
control and will operate a competitive Division I athletic program
in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. The University is
dedicated to enforcing the rules and regulations of the NCAA by our
student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and community. The
development and implementation of institutional compliance policies
and procedures and an effective rules education program are the
cornerstones of our commitment to rules compliance.
The mission of the Compliance Services Office is
to:
- Educate student-athletes, coaches, athletics department staff
members, boosters, and various SIUE support offices on NCAA and
conference rules and regulations;
- Establish an ongoing rules education program and cohesive
monitoring systems;
- Assist student-athletes with eligibility issues;
- Monitor the activities of the Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics and SIUE support ofices in areas of admissions,
eligibility, recruitment, financial aid, amateurism, awards and
benefits, and playing and practice seasons;
- Provide accurate and timely interpretations of NCAA rules;
- Self-inestigate and self-report any violations in a timely and
thorough manner
