Mark Weigand begins his second season on the SIUE men's soccer staff, after joining the staff in August of 2015.
Weigand brought significant playing experience to his position on the Cougars’ staff.
Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Weigand played four years of college soccer at Denver. A three-year captain at center-midfield, Weigand earned All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation second team honors in 2010 and was an All-MPSF honorable mention selection in 2011. He was a three-time All-Academic selection. In 2012, Weigand was chosen as the John Byrden Award winner, honoring the athlete which most represents the qualities and characteristics of a student-athlete.
Prior to his time with the Pioneers, Weigand played with the Fort Wayne Fever Academy and also was part of the Indiana Olympic Development Program.
Weigand received a bachelor’s in biology and chemistry from Denver in 2013. He currently is pursuing a master’s in kinesiology with a specialty in exercise physiology at SIUE.
