The 2016 season marks Scott Gyllenborg's third season as an assistant coach with the SIUE men's soccer team.
Gyllenborg served as the top assistant under co-Head Coaches David Korn and Brian Jones in 2014, helping lead the Cougars to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship and a return to the NCAA Division I tournament.
Gyllenborg came to SIUE after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Colgate.
As a coach with the Raiders, he oversaw the development of Mike Reidy, who was named 2012 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and was selected by Sporting Kansas City in the MLS Supplemental Draft the following year.
The Raiders also had seven players earn All-Patriot League accolades under Gyllenborg's tutelage.
Prior to his stint at Colgate, Gyllenborg spent a season as first assistant coach at Indianapolis during the 2011 season. He also played for the Greyhounds from 2007-2010, captaining the team to an appearance in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament final during his senior year.
Gyllenborg has experience coaching at the club level as well. Most recently, he coached the U-12 and U-13 age groups at Odyssey Soccer Club (SC) in Oneida, N.Y. Prior to that, he spent three years coaching at Carmel United SC in Carmel, Ind.
A native of Cambridge, England, Gyllenborg moved to the St. Louis area while in high school and has both playing and coaching experience in the St. Louis soccer community. He played at Meramec College and St. Louis Lions SC, while also serving as assistant camp director at both St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC and Lou Fusz SC.
