BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference preseason rankings have come out and SIUE women's soccer has grabbed the number two spot in the conference. The poll is the predicted order of finish for the upcoming 2017 OVC women's soccer season voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
The Cougars are coming off an impressive season finishing with a 10-8-5 (6-3-1 OVC) record. The Cougars became just the second OVC team ever to advance to the NCAA second round after ousting Notre Dame in the first round.
The Cougars are looking to continue their success into the 2017 season, where they are returning their top three goal scorers from last season. Leading the way will be Caroline Hoefert, who was the top leading scorer last season with 16 points (5 goals, 6 assists). Right behind Hoefert on the list is Avery Anderson, who accounted for 13 total points (5 goals, 3 assists) last season.
The SIUE Women are set for kickoff on August 9th, when they will be traveling to Evansville to play an exhibition match against the Purple Aces at 7pm.
