McCarthy joined SIUE Athletics Academic Advising as a graduate assistant in August 2016 and was named Academic Advisor in 2018.
A 2016 graduate of Murray State University, McCarthy was a track and field student-athlete for the Racers from 2011 to 2016. She served on the Leadership Council in 2014 and 2015 and attended the NCAA Career in Sport Forum in 2015. McCarthy served as an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and earned Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2011 and 2014.
McCarthy aided Murray State as a student athletic trainer since 2013 working with football, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. She was the president of the Murray State Athletic Training Association during the 2015-16 season.
She earned a bachelor of science in athletic training from Murray State in 2016 and is pursuing a master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration from SIUE. In 2016, McCarthy was selected to attend both the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar and the Women's Leadership Symposium through Women Leaders in College Sports. She was recently inducted into the Chi Sigma Alpha Student Affairs Honor Society.
