Cougars Sit Sixth at EKU

Day One Results

RICHMOND, Ky. – Tanner Collins and Albert Nilsson are among the top 10 and SIUE golf is sixth after the first day of play at the EKU Intercollegiate sponsored by Raising Cane's.

The Cougars are sixth at 578 and are just four strokes out of the top four. SIUE fired a 282 in the first round, which is tied for the 10th lowest team round in school history. UT Martin and Northern Kentucky are tied for first at 561 (+1). Morehead State is third at 564. Eastern Kentucky is fourth at 573.

Collins, a true freshmen playing in his second tournament, is tied for third at one-under 139. He carded his first career round in the 60s, shooting a 69 in the first round. Collins, who is playing as an individual, is just three strokes off the lead.

Nilsson fired a first-round 65, which is a career low and tied for the second-lowest round by an individual in SIUE history. He is tied for seventh at even-par (140).

Brooks Jungbluth is tied for 23rd. He carded a career-low 68 in the first round and has a 143. Peder Lehmann Brunnsjö is tied for 30th at 145. Parker McEachern, also playing as an individual for SIUE, is tied for 32nd with a 146. His 71 in the first round tied his career low.

Presley Mackelburg has a 150 and is tied for 46th. Anthony Ruthey is at 153 and is tied for 63rd.

Cleveland State's Zach Robbins leads the individual competition at 136 (-4).

The Cougars will pair with Bowling Green and host EKU for Sunday's final round.
