EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.—SIUE head wrestling coach Jeremy Spates has added Ty Prazma to his coaching staff.
"Ty brings a strong work ethic to our program and is willing to help in any way possible," commented Spates. "Prazma will oversee many facets of the program including recruiting, travel, social media and assisting with the team."
Prazma has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois.
Prior to his stent at NIU, he was an assistant coach at Virginia Military Institute. During the 2016 SoCon Championships, the Keydets more than doubled their point total from the previous season, with the assistance of Prazma.
Prazma was a standout wrestler for Missouri, where he competed in the 165-pound weight class from 2010-2015. During his career, he accumulated 83 victories and placed 6th at the 2014 Midlands Championship.
A native of Granite City, Illinois, Prazma brings a local feel to the SIUE wrestling program.
"One of Ty's strengths is the experience of wrestling he has been exposed too. He has been around great programs from his time at Granite City to his wrestling career at Missouri. Being exposed to high- ranked programs will be very beneficial for our program in the near future," added Spates.
Prazma earned his bachelor's degree in parks, recreation and tourism with a focus in sports management from Missouri in 2014. He earned his master's in educational and counseling psychology with an emphasis in positive coaching also from Missouri in the summer of 2015.
