Ralph Korte Stadium

360 View of Korte Stadium

In what has grown to become of the premier soccer facilities in the country, construction on Ralph Korte Stadium was completed in 1994 and first used for the U.S. Olympic Festival. It has since been the site of numerous local, regional, state, national, professional, and international soccer events. The field was named after Robert (Bob) Guelker, who passed away after the 1985 season. Guelker, who was a U.S. Olympic coach, led SIUE men's soccer to two NCAA National Championships, including the first Division II title in 1972 and the University's first NCAA Division I crown in 1979. The SIUE women's soccer program has also enjoyed success at the facility, counting three Ohio Valley Conference titles and three appearances in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship, most recently in the 2020 season.

The venue is also widely recognized as one of the premier track and field facilities in the Midwest, having played host to numerous regional, national, and international competitions. Korte Stadium has played host to several USATF events, as well as the USA vs. Germany decathlon dual meet in 1996. Most recently, SIUE played host to its first Ohio Valley Conference Championship in 2014.
