Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball team outscored Saint Joseph's 84-37 and opened the Great Lakes Valley Conference season with a win tonight in the Vadalabene Center.
The Cougars improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the GLVC. SIUE shot 52.5 percent while holding the Pumas to 18.5 percent. Saint Joseph's falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Four Cougars finished double figures this evening, led by SIUE's all-time leading scorer, Misi Clark (Paris). Clark finished with 19 points and has extended her double figure streak to 70 consecutive games. Sarah Cook (Columbus, Ohio) added 13 points and seven boards. Megan Grizzle (Salem) and Kristen Boss (Carrollton) scored a career-high 12 and 10 points, respectively. Boss also led the Cougars on the board by recording a career-high nine rebounds.
The Pumas were led by Erin Sampsel, who finished with 10 points. Defensively, Heather Allen led Saint Joseph's with eight rebounds.
The Cougars try to extend their winning streak on Saturday, December 2 when they face IUPU-Fort Wayne at 1 p.m. in the Vadalabene Center.
