         (Owensboro, Ky.) Four Cougars finished in double figures but that wasn't enough as the No. 7 Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers went on to defeat the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball team 96-70 in Owensboro, Ky.
         SIUE, 4-12 overall and 1-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, battled with Kentucky Wesleyan early but fell away the last five minutes of the first half to enter halftime trailing by 21 points. Kentucky Wesleyan, 14-2 overall and 8-2 in the conference, finished the night shooting 50 percent from the field (38-76).
         Luke Humphrey led the Cougar team with 18 points while Marty Perry contributed with 17 points Andrew Gajewski continues to put up numbers by scoring a career-high 11 points. Garrett Thomas also finished with 11 points on the evening. Brandon Hilton grabbed a career-and team-high seven rebounds for the Cougars.
         SIUE returns to action on Saturday as they face Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
