Southern Illinois University Edwardsville held off the last-place Saint Joseph's Pumas, but it was tight down the stretch.
         SIUE improved to 14-5 overall and 9-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 66-63 victory over Saint Joseph's, who fell to 1-18 overall and 1-12 in the GLVC.
         The Cougars needed five players in double figures to upend the Pumas, but it was the final player to go into double figures who put the game away. Misi Clark hit two free throws with nine seconds left. Clark finished with 11 points and now has scored double figures in 86 consecutive games.
         Clark also needs just one point to score 2,000 points in her collegiate career. She'll get that opportunity next Thursday at home when the Cougars face Quincy University in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
         The four other players in double figures in the Cougars' win were Jessica Robert with a team-high 13 points, Crystal Gladson with 10, Sarah Cook with 10 and Megan Grizzle with 10.
         Heather Allen paced the Pumas with a 23-point effort.
