Second-Half Shooting Stops Cougars

         With a 5-for-20 shooting performance in the second half, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fell 62-43 to Northern Kentucky in Saturday's basketball action at the Vadalabene Center.
         The Cougars (8-6, 6-2) had a chance move even closer to Northern Kentucky (10-2, 7-0) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings. Northern Kentucky remained the only team with no losses in GLVC play.
         NKU's Dana Schubeler pounded the ball inside on the Cougars and led all scorers with 18 points. Michelle Cottrell scored 14 points, including 10 of 11 free throws. Bridget Flanagan added 14 for the Norse.
         Sarah Schweers led the Cougars with 13 points off the bench off three first-half three-pointers.
         The Cougars were down just 29-28 at half, but an NKU run of 14-3 early in the first half made the difference.
         SIUE's next action is on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday. Game time is 5:15 p.m.
