Ron Jones (Kankakee) scored a game-high 21 points as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville topped Greenville College 82-72 in men's college basketball action Monday night.
       Both teams are now 2-5. SIUE broke a five-game losing skid.
       Jones scored 18 of his points in the first half as SIUE took a 45-34 lead at halftime. Three other Cougars joined him in double figures. They were Logan Glosser with 12 points, Rob Baumgardner with 11 and Tim Bauersachs with 11.
       Greenville hung in with the Cougars on its 58 percent shooting from the field. However, the Panther committed 24 turnovers to SIUE's 11. SIUE shot 44 percent for the game from the field.
       SIUE returns to action Thursday at the Vadalabene Center when it takes on Monmouth College in a 7:30 p.m. game at the Vadalabene Center. The game will be preceded by an SIUE women's game against Illinois-Springfield at 5:30 p.m.
