Ruth Kipping (Quincy) poured in a game high 26 points and collected 13 rebounds as the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball team defeated Lewis University 66-55 Thursday night.
         SIUE improves to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lewis falls to 2-3 and a 1-2 conference mark.
         SIUE was on top 30-29 at halftime before Lewis gained the lead 44-40 in the middle of the second half. SIUE then went on a 10-0 run to regain control of the game.
         Liz DeShasier (Carrollton) contributed a 11 point effort for the Cougars. Kristen Boss (Carrollton) reached double figures in scoring with 10 points on five-of-seven shooting.
         This is the fourth game Kipping has led the Cougars in scoring.
         Lewis' Faith Smith scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Shante Glenn led Lewis in scoring with 12 points on five-of-five shooting.
         SIUE will next be in action Saturday, December 14 when they travel to Missouri-Rolla for a 1:30 p.m. tip-off.
