The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball team put a halt to its three game losing streak with a 65-59 overtime win against Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improves to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the victory. Wisconsin-Parkside dips to 7-9 and 3-6.
         SIUE took a 36-35 lead into halftime, thanks to a nine-point effort from Sara Schweers (Chatham), all coming from three-point range.
         Wisconsin-Parkside came out strong in the second half and led a good portion of the half. Liz DeShasier's (Carrollton) jumper with 1:32 sent the game into overtime.
         UWP could not find its rhythm and SIUE went six of seven from the free-throw line to give the Cougars an 8-2 advantage in the overtime period.
         Amber Wisdom (Geneseo) paced the Cougars with 12 points. Ruth Kipping (Quincy) and Jessica Robert (Carlyle) had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
         Sammy Kromm poured in a game-high 19 points for the Rangers and Jen Braier pulled down 13 rebounds.
         SIUE's next action will be a non-conference contest at Oakland City on Tuesday. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
