Ron Jones scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville toppled Missouri-St. Louis 61-51 Thursday night at the Vadalabene Center.
       Jones hit 5 of 8 from the field and finished 9 of 10 from the free throw line. Justin Ward came in off the bench for the Cougars to collect 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
       SIUE evened its record at 5-5 and collected its first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory of the season to go to 1-3. UMSL dropped to 5-5 and 2-3 in the GLVC.
       Jonathan Griffin led the Rivermen with 12 points.
       SIUE's next action is Saturday when the Cougars meet Southern Indiana in a 3 p.m. contest at the Vadalabene Center.
