ROLLA, Mo. - There's one less undefeated team in the nation thanks to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
         With staunch defense and four players in double figures, SIUE defeated previously unbeaten Missouri-Rolla on the road 68-53.
         SIUE evened its record at 4-4 while Missouri-Rolla falls to 6-1.
         Calvin Sykes led the offense with 15 points. Joel Jaye and Ron Jones scored 14 points each. Tyler Hackstadt added 12.
         The Cougars shut down a powerful Missouri-Rolla offense which had been averaging 90 points per game going into Saturday's matchup. SIUE allowed the Miners to shoot just 35 percent for the game.
         Brian Westre shot 7 of 11 from the field and finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds to power the Miners. Josh Shaw had 13 for Missouri-Rolla.
         SIUE shot 52 percent from the field and were able to compete with the Miners on the boards, losing that battle 32-30.
         Not only did Sykes score 15, but he also added a career-high seven assists.
         SIUE's next action is Thursday when it returns home for a matchup at the Vadalabene Center against Blackburn. Tip-off time is a special 6 p.m. start.
