ROMEOVILLE - Lewis shot better than 62 percent from the field to defeat Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 89-70 in men's college basketball action Saturday.
       The Flyers extended SIUE's losing streak to nine games as they shot 30 of 48 from the field. Lewis led after the first eight minutes of the game and didn't hold back.
       SIUE falls to 7-16 overall and 3-13 in the GLVC. Lewis, ranked No. 18 in the nation, improved to 19-4 overall.
       The Cougars picked up their offense from Justin Ward, who scored 22 points despite shooting just 7 of 23 from the field. Ron Heflin scored 16 while Ron Jones added 12.
       Demetrius Hunter pumped in a game-high 23 points for the Flyers.
