QUINCY - All five Southern Illinois University Edwardsville starters finished in double figures scoring as the Cougars defeated Quincy 82-79 Thursday night.
         The Cougars, 14-10 overall and 10-7 in the GLVC, shot a season-best 58.7 percent from the field in defeating Quincy. The Hawks fell to 19-6, 13-5 in the GLVC.
         Jessica Robert led the way for SIUE with 21 points behind 8-of-12 shooting. Ruth Kipping, a native of Quincy, scored 19 points in her final game before a hometown crowd of 632.
         Liz DeShasier scored 13 points for SIUE while Amber Wisdom and Sarah Schweers each chipped in 10.
         SIUE held a seven-point lead midway through the first half but ended up with a one-point lead at halftime. The Cougars took as much as a 15-point lead in the second half but had to hold off the Hawks late. Quincy's Lindsay Anderson, of Edwardsville, connected on three straight three-pointers in the final minutes of the game.
         Lisa Farrell led the offense for Quincy with 24 points. Quincy shot 61 percent in the first half but fell off in the second half, hitting just 38 percent of its field goals.
         SIUE plays its final regular season road game on Saturday against Missouri-St. Louis. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
