Second-Half Run Dooms Cougars

         KENOSHA, Wis. - Wisconsin-Parkside used a 19-2 second-half run and went on to defeat Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 56-45 in women's college basketball action.
         SIUE falls to 8-7 overall and 3-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Wisconsin-Parkside improves to 7-6 and 4-3.
         The Cougars and the Rangers struggled early as both teams didn't score for the first three minutes of the game. The Rangers drew first blood on free throws by Carrie Weir at 17:05.
         SIUE didn't score its first basket until 15:15 on a layup by Amber Wisdom, who led SIUE in scoring with 15 points.
         The Rangers led most of the first half and grabbed a 29-24 lead at halftime on a three-pointer from Jen Braier with 10 seconds left. Briaer and teammate Sammy Kromm finished the game with double-doubles. Braier had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Kromm had 19 and 10.
         SIUE fought back in the second half and grabbed a 32-31 lead on a shot by Jessica Robert, who finished with 13 points. Wisconsin-Parkside then turned on the offense and the defense, running off a 19-2 lead in the next 11 minutes of the second half. The Rangers won the rebounding battle 44-21.
         The Cougars now return from its road trip to face Indianapolis on Thursday for Pack the Gym night. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
