Cougars Stumble at Quincy

         QUINCY - No. 17-ranked Quincy went on a 19-4 run in the first half and went on to defeat Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 74-62 in Great Lakes Valley Conference women's basketball action.
         With the loss, SIUE falls to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the GLVC. The Cougars continue their road trip this week with a Thursday game at Lewis and a Saturday matinee at Wisconsin-Parkside.
         Quincy improved its record to 10-2 and 4-1 in the GLVC.
         Jessica Robert, fresh off scoring her 1,000th career point on a three-pointer at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, powered the Cougars' offense with 17 points. Julianne McMillen and Amber Wisdom added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
         Quincy used a pair of double-doubles to defeat SIUE. Jessica Stuckman led all scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Courtnet VonderHaar added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
         SIUE took a four-point lead early in the game at 11-7 but fell to the Hawks' scoring punch in the first half as Stuckman connected on a basket plus a free throw to give Quincy a 26-15 lead with 11:15 to play in the first half. The Cougars could only come within five points of the Hawks for the rest of the game.
