Top Teams Battle to 1-1 Tie

         A battle between a pair of men's soccer titans ended in a 1-1 draw Sunday.
         Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Lewis University finished with a stalemate. SIUE, ranked No. 6 in the national in the latest NSCAA poll, is now 11-1-1 and 6-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Lewis, ranked No. 12 nationally, is now 11-1-2 and 4-1-2 in the GLVC.
         SIUE had its 17-game streak of consecutive victories snapped by the Fleyers. However, the Cougars' string of 18 consecutive games in conference play without a loss stands at 18.
         Justin Sanabria put Lewis on top at 35:37 witha score past SIUE goalkeeper Nicholas Frasca with an assist from Cathal Brady.
         Despite outshooting the Flyers 23-9, the Cougars couldn't find the back of the net until 71:46 when Brian Higgins scored with an assist from Kevin Thibodeau and Mike Banner.
         The Cougars now return home to Korte Stadium this week to take on Missouri-St. Louis i=on Friday and Quincy on Sunday. At Sunday's game, SIUE will award the latest winner of the Jack Blake Award. This also is homecoming week for the Cougars.
