ATHENS, W.V. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fell to Fairmont State 60-58 in women's college basketball on Saturday afternoon.
         The Cougars led 58-55 with 2:24 to go, but the Falcons got a three-pointer to tie the game. Then Sidney Thomas sank a shot with 23 seconds left to put Fairmont up for good. Amber Wisdom tried to tie the game as she missed a layup with three seconds left.
         Wisdom finished the game with nine points. Julianne McMillen poured in 16 followed for the second game in a row while adding eight rebounds. Alisa Carrillo also had eight boards to go along with four points. Annie Miller made her first start of the year going three of six from the field for a career-high of eight points.
         Kristen Gattuso led the way for the Falcons with 26 ponts including 5 of 9 from beyond the three point arc. The Cougars and Falcons each had 32 rebounds in the contest.
         Fairmont State held a four-point lead at halftime at 29-29. SIUE shot 42 percent for the contest while the Falcons shot 43 percent.
         SIUE, 1-2, will head back home to start Great Lakes Valley Conference play as they battle Lewis next Friday at the Vadalabene Center.
