ATHENS, W.V. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville had five players in double figures but couldn't overcome a pair of hot-shooting Concord players in a 77-72 loss in women's college basketball.
         Tanya Guell led SIUE with 17 points. Julianne McMillen poured in 16 followed by Lindy Carey with 13, Amy Austin with 12 and Amber Wisdom with 10. Whitney Sykes, who broke the school record for three-pointers earlier in the week, was held scoreless.
         Concord's bench outscored SIUE's bench 32-4. Most of the points for Concord came from the game's leading scorer Sammy Walker, who hit 6 of 9 from three-point range and scored 23 points.
         Concord held a four-point lead at halftime at 45-41. The Mountain Lions extended their lead to 13 with seven minutes to play. SIUE closed in late but finished 0-9 from three-point range in the second half.
         SIUE, 1-1, must regroup for Saturday's matchup at 2 p.m. with Fairmont State, which defeated Converse College 79-55 in the opening game of the 2004 Lady Lion Classic.
