EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - Joel Jaye dropped in 16 points for the second consecutive game as the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville overpowered Robert Morris 77-51 on Tuesday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improves to 2-2 on the season. The Eagles fell to 5-3.
         Jaye added eight rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Tim Bauersachs had another solid game, scoring 15 points and grabbing five boards as the Cougars outrebounded Robert Morris 46-40.
         SIUE never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 39-13 lead at halftime. In fact, the Eagles had more turnovers (16) than points (13) at halftime. The Cougars shot 37 percent for the contest, while the Eagles hit 40 percent of their field goals.
         Justin Ward chipped in 11 points, and Doug Taylor tied a career-high for the second straight game with 10. Michael Sams netted nine points and pulled down eight rebounds. J.B. Jones led all Cougars with eight assists.
         SIUE opens up Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Friday at the Vadalabene Center against Lewis. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
