Knights' Quick Start Traps Cougars

         LOUISVILLE, KY. - Bellarmine got off to a 13-0 start and rolled to an 84-64 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in women's basketball action on Saturday.
         SIUE fell to 10-14 overall and 5-12 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Cougars have now lost 10 of their last 12 games. SIUE faces Southern Indiana and Missouri-St. Louis at home next week, hoping to hold on to its eighth-place position in the GLVC standings.
         Bellarmine used a solid offensive attack to down the Cougars. Lyndsey Neal scored 23 points and was followed by Lynn Johnson-Thomas with 18 and Shanta Bowens with 14.
         The Cougars picked up 13 points each from Tanya Guell and Amber Wisdom. Jessica Robert and Julianne McMillen had 10 points each.
         SIUE was down 40-25 by halftime and was able to cut the lead to six points on a three-pointer by Jaque Howard with 2:17 to play. Forced to send Bellarmine to the free throw line, the Cougars watched as the Knights hit 15 of 16 free throws in the final two minutes of the game.
