Shannon Wells poured in a game-high 18 points to lead the visiting Southern Indiana Eagles past the SIU Edwardsville Cougars 64-47 Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
         The Cougars dip to 10-15 overall and 5-13 in conference play. USI improves to 17-7 overall and 10-7 in the GLVC. With lower standing teams also losing tonight, the Cougars are still sitting in eighth place in the GLVC standings. The top eight teams advance to the GLVC Tournament in March.
         Turnovers doomed the Cougars on the night. They commited 33 overall, resulting in 31 points for the Eagles.
         Amber Wisdom led SIUE with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Julianne McMillen pulled down a game-high 10 boards for the Cougars.
         Wells converted on all 12 of her free-throw chances en route to her 18 points. Wells also led the Eagles with six rebounds.
         SIUE will be back in action Saturday afternoon in a 1 p.m. tilt with Missouri-St. Louis at the Vadalabene Center.
