Cougars Roll over UWP

         SIU Edwardsville had four players score in double-figures as SIUE cruised to a 74-62 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Wisconsin-Parkside Thursday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improves to 11-9 overall and 7-7 in GLVC play in winning its third straight home game. Wisconsin-Parkside, who is on a five-game losing streak, drops to 7-13 overall and 3-10 in the GLVC.
         Tyler Hackstadt led the way for SIUE with 17 points. In the process, he became SIUE's leading scorer for the season, bumping his average up to 12.8 ppg.
         Dan Heimos tied a career-high with 13 points and pulled down seven boards. He also recorded three blocks on the night. Joel Jaye was just one rebound shy of a double-double, posting 15 points and nine rebounds. Calvin Sykes contributed with 11 points.
         SIUE only turned the ball over five times, compared to 15 by Wisconsin-Parkside. No SIUE player had more than one turnover on the night. The Cougars also dominated the paint, outscoring Wisconsin-Parkside 46-24 in the lane.
         Wisconsin-Parkside was led by Dean Pogodzinski's 17 points. Gareth Malkoski added 11. The Rangers hit 9 of 20 three pointers on the night to stay in the game.
         The Cougars are back in action this Saturday when Saint Joseph's comes to the Vadalabene Center for a 3 p.m. start.
