Cougars Fall to UWP

         Carrie Weir scored 25 points to lead the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers to a 69-55 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over SIU Edwardsville Thursday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         The Cougars have dropped eight of its last nine games and falls to 9-12 overall and 4-10 in the GLVC. Wisconsin-Parkside improves to 11-8 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
         The teams traded leads in the first half before Wisconsin-Parkside gained a 30-29 advantage going into halftime. The Rangers used an 11-0 run and the Cougars managed only six field goals in the second half as Wisconsin-Parkside ran away with the victory.
         Wisconsin-Parkside shot 54.9 percent from the floor, including a 10-of-15 shooting performance from Weir. Sammy Kromm added 17 for the Rangers and Jen Braier chipped in with 11.
         Leading the way for SIUE was Amber Wisdom's 15 points. Jessica Robert, the national leader in three-point shooting percentage, added 14 points that included 2 of 2 from long range. Tanya Guell was the other double-digit scorer with 11.
         The Cougars are still clinging to the eighth spot in the conference standings. The top eight advance to the GLVC Tournament in early March.
         The Cougars are back in action this Saturday when Saint Joseph's comes to the Vadalabene Center for a 1 p.m. start.
