DeKALB, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball was held to 25 percent shooting on Sunday in a 55-39 loss at NCAA Division I Northern Illinois.
         The Cougars fell to 6-8 with the loss after hitting 11 of 44 shots from the field. Whitney Sykes led SIUE in scoring with 12 points as she hit all four of the Cougars' three-pointers.
         The Huskies, 3-8, picked up a double-double performance from Jamie Wilson, who finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Northern Illinois, which led for most of the game less the first two minutes of the game, jumped out to a 29-19 lead at halftime and held off any Cougar second-half runs.
         Both teams were marred by turnovers. Northern Illinois had 25 to SIUE's 21. The rebounding edge, like the final score, was much clearer with Northern Illinois edging SIUE 39-22.
         SIUE returns home to the Vadalabene Center on Thursday to face Saint Joseph's for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
