         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - Cold shooting from the outside and 37 points from Indianapolis' David Logan were the story as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville dropped its first home game of the year to the Greyhounds 87-77 in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's basketball action on Saturday at the Vadalabene Center.
         No. 7-ranked SIUE shot just 18.2 percent (4-22) from beyond the three-point, line including 0 of 8 in the first half. Meanwhile, Logan shot 12 of 23 from the field and 9 of 12 from the free throw line.
         The Cougars fall to 17-4 overall and 10-2 in league play. Indianapolis improves to 14-5 overall and 9-3 in conference action.
         SIUE fell behind by as many as 14 points in the first half before trailing 36-24 at the break. Indianapolis took a 41-24 to start the second half. SIUE would then go on a 11-0 run over the next 3:21 capped by a jumper by Tim Bauersachs to cut the lead to six points.
         The Greyhounds lead balloned to 67-49 lead with 8:16 to go in the game. Indianapolis had an 18-point lead with 2:45 to go, then SIUE went on a 19-5 run over the next 2:11, cutting the Indianapolis' lead to four points with 34 seconds left. The Greyhounds then made 6 of 6 free throws to seal the win.
         Senior Calvin Sykes led SIUE with 19 points, shooting 8 of 13 from the field. J.B. Jones netted 18 points adding four assists. Dan Heimos was one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.
         It was the first time that a team had more than 80 points and shot better than 50 percent against SIUE. The Greyhounds made 51.9 percent fo their shots, committing nine turnovers and only one in first half.
         The Cougars shot 48.5 percent for the game and 52.9 percent (9-17) from the free throw line. SIUE outrebounded the Greyhounds 38-32 in the contest.
         Mike Adibe tallied 15 points for Indianapolis, and Lawrence Barnes netted 13.
         The Cougars begin a four-game road trip this Thursday traveling to Kenosha, Wis., to face UW-Parkside at 7:30 p.m.
