BOLIVAR, MO. -- Southwest Baptist held off a late charge from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball in a 72-69 victory on Tuesday.
         SIUE point guard J.B. Jones led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Nick Arth pumped in 13 points, and Ty Johnson added 10 points.
         Southwest Baptist had three player score in double figures led by 14 points from Colt Blair.
         SIUE was down 34-30 at half at fell behind by as many as 11 points with six minutes to play in the game. After a Cougar timeout with 5:51 to play, SIUE went on a 15-5 run to cut the lead to one on a layup by Arth with 1:05 to play.
         Southwest Baptist won the game from the free throw line, hitting 6 of 7 shots from the charity stripe in the final 34 seconds of the game.
         The Cougars fell to 2-1 with the loss while Southwest Baptist, which was picked to finish second in the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA), now boasts a 4-0 mark.
