BOLIVAR, MO. -- Amy Austin's three-pointer in overtime sparked a 10-0 run as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville went on for a 55-52 overtime victory on Tuesday.
         The SIUE women's basketball team improved to 3-0 for the season while the home Bearcats evened their record at 2-2.
         In regulation, it was a tale of two very different halves for the teams.
         SIUE raced out to a 30-17 lead at halftime after hitting 46 percent of its shots, including 5 of 10 from three-point range. The Bearcats were held to 24 percent shooting in the first half.
         Southwest Baptist countered with a second-half surge as it held SIUE to just 20 percent shooting. The Cougars needed a layup from Alison Fogle with two seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
         The Bearcats took the early lead in the overtime on baskets from Amber Wheeler and Livia Brito.
         Austin's three-pointer cut the lead to one. SIUE took advantage of three turnovers and two Southwest Baptist fouls to put together its winning run.
         SIUE now returns to the Vadalabene Center next Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest against Oakland City.
