Five Cougars Score Double Figures in Win

         Ty Johnson's career-high 18 points sparked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to 73-58 win over Robert Morris in men's basketball Tuesday night at the Vadalabene Center.
         Johnson went 6 for 14 from the field and 3 of 8 from behind the three-point line to lead five Cougars in double figures. Mike Hardiek notched a double-double with a career-high 12 points and 11 rebounds.
         SIUE improved its record to 3-2 on the season. Robert Morris drops to 6-6 on the year.
         The Cougars led 23-18 with 6:40 to go on the first half before going on a 17-7 run to end the half with a 15-point lead.
         The Eagles outscored the Cougars 17-7 to make it 47-42 with 10:23 left in the contest. The Cougars went on a 8-0 run after three-pointers from J.B. Jones and Anthony Jones and a bucket from Hardiek to take a 55-42 advantage with 8:14 left. A Justin Ward dunk with 1:22 left put an exclamation point on the Cougar victory.
         J.B. Jones finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. Ward netted 12 points grabbing seven boards, and Anthony Jones had 10 points going 3 for 6 from behind the three-point arc.
         The Cougars shot 42.2 percent (27-64) in the game, but netted just 34.3 percent of their shots in the second half after a 51.7 percent performance in the first half.
         Tyler Moretto led Robert Morris with 16 points on 4-of-15 shooting. Corley Lee chipped in 15 points adding eight rebounds for the Eagles.
         Robert Morris shot 42.9 percent (21-49) but committed 23 turnovers in the game.
         The Cougars will be back in action Thursday night as they travel to Rockhurst to play the Hawks at 7:30 p.m.
