ST. LOUIS - Amber Wisdom scored a career-high 21 points, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville shot an impressive 62.2 percent from the field in a 73-60 rout over Missouri-St. Louis in women's Great Lakes Valley Conference basketball.
Wisdom shot 6 of 8 from the field and hit all three of her three-pointers in the game as the Cougars improved to 11-14 overall and 6-10 in the GLVC. SIUE broke a five-game losing skid with the win.
Missouri-St. Louis, which shot 49 percent for the game, fell to 5-18 overall and 2-15 in the GLVC.
In what continues to be one "huge" game after another as the Cougars make the stretch run in the GLVC, SIUE came up big on Saturday with confident shooting and timely scoring.
Julianne McMillen and Whitney Sykes added 12 points each for the Cougars.
Missouri-St. Louis was led by Courtney Watts' 11 points.
SIUE now returns to the Vadalabene Center on Thursday to face Kentucky Wesleyan. The game figures to be a key one for both teams. SIUE currently sits in seventh place in the league standings followed by KWC in eighth place just one-half game back in the loss column. Southern Indiana is now in ninth, a full game behind the Cougars.
