Cougars Glide Past Missouri-Rolla

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Whitney sykes led all scorers with 16 points as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville dropped Missouri-Rolla 68-54 Saturday in women's college basketball at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improved to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with its second straight league victory. Missouri-Rolla, ranked sixth in the Great Lakes region by the NCAA regional ranking committee, suffered its third straight loss and fell to 11-5 overall and 5-4 in the GLVC.
         SIUE took control of the game in the first half. With the Cougars and the Miners tied at 13 with 9:45 left, SIUE went on a 22-8 run the rest of the half and held a 35-21 lead at halftime.
         Missouri-Rolla was 1 of 10 from the three-point line in the first half while SIUE knocked down 4 of 10 three-pointers.
         Alison Fogle and Sykes both hit four three-pointers in the game. Fogle was the only other Cougars scoring double-digits with 15 points.
         Amy Austin marked a career-high with 10 assists with nine points. Deidra Dace also just missed a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds.
         Deosha Agnew was the lone player to score double figures for SIUE with 11 points.
         SIUE now heads to the road to face Lewis on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and UW-Parkside on Saturday at 1 p.m.
