EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Indianapolis 59-55 on Saturday at the Vadalabene Center.
         SIUE improves its overall record to 7-6 notching its first victory in the Great Lakes Valley Conference to go to 1-4 in the league. The Greyhounds fall to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the GLVC.
         SIUE now has a 16-15 advantage over Indianapolis in the all-time series as the Cougars had dropped the last five contests to the Greyhounds.
         Deidra Dace led all scorers with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting, going 9 for 11 from the free throw line. Dace added five rebounds.
         Dace netted a jumper with 6:13 to go in the first half to tie the game at 20-20. The Greyhounds would go on a 16-9 run to end the half for a 36-29 lead at the break.
         SIUE came out in the second half with a 11-3 run over 5:49 for a 40-39 lead. Julianne McMillen's three-pointer with 2:32 remaining gave the Cougars a 52-51 lead. The Cougars hit 5 of 8 free throws down the stretch for the victory.
         Alisa Carrillo had 9 points grabbing five rebounds. Amy Austin scored six points adding six assists.
         The Cougars shot 52.6 percent (10-19) from the field in the second half and 44.4 percent (20-45) in the game. The Cougars held Indianapolis to just 35.3 percent (24-68) from the floor and 26.3 percent (5-19) from beyond the three-point line.
         The Cougars head out on the road next week traveling to Owensboro, Ky. next Thursday for a match with Kentucky Wesleyan. SIUE then battles Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
