First-Half Surge Lifts Bradley over SIUE

         PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley used a 23-6 run to end the first half and went on to a 74-58 victory over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in men's college basketball action Wednesday night at Carver Arena.
         SIUE fell in its opener to the 2-0 Braves. Bradley's J.J. Tauai led all scorers with 21 points.
         The Cougars finished with three players in double figures led by Mike Hardiek's 13 points. Nick Arth added 11 points, and Ty Johnson contributed 10 points.
         Bradley shot a steady 41.3 percent from the field in the game while holding SIUE to 37.7 percent shooting overall. SIUE outscored Bradley in the second half 33-30 after being down 44-25 at halftime.
         SIUE returns to the Vadalabene Center Saturday for its home opener against Harris-Stowe. Tip-off time is 3 p.m.
