Offense Comes Alive in 103-69 Win

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Mike Hardiek scored a career-high 32 points and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's offense exploded in 1 103-69 victory over Robert Morris Wednesday night at the Vadalabene Center. br>         It was the first time the Cougars broke the 100-point barrier under Coach Marty Simmons. It also was the first time the Cougars had broken 100 points since their Feb. 19, 1998, game versus Quincy.
         The Cougars, 2-1 and ranked No. 3 nationally in the preseason by Street and Smith, were led by Hardiek, who had a double-double with 32 points along with 15 rebounds. Hardiek's 32 points was another milestone for the Cougars, the last time a player scored 30 points was Logan Glosser versus Quincy on Feb. 20, 2003. It also was the most rebounds by a Cougar since Travis Wallbaum grabbed 15 in the 2000 season.
         SIUE had two other players to reach double figures offensively, including J.B. Jones with 15 points and Clint Burris with 13 points.
         Jones played well all-around adding nine assists and four steals to his 15 points.
         The Cougars shot 56.3 percent from the field which included 77.8 percent (7 of 9) from three-point range in the second half. Robert Morris shot 49.1 percent from the field.
         SIUE also turned the ball over seven times against the Eagles. The Cougars had single-digit turnovers in eight games last season.
         Robert Morris, now 2-3, was lead by Antonio Hamilton who had a double-double for the Eagles with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Eagles also picked 15 points out of Corley Lee.
         The Cougars play on the road next versus Ferris State Saturday at 3 p.m.
