MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville went more than six minutes without a field goal early in the second half and were swept beside by Southwest Baptist 94-61 in the Cruzin' Classic.
         Played on the campus of Barry University, the Cougars were cold from the field, shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from three-point range. The loss dropped SIUE's record to 7-2 overall.
         Amber Shelton finished with a game-high 21 points. Allison Fogle and Whitney Sykes added 14 and 13, respectively. The Cougars committed a season-high 24 turnovers against the Bearcats.
         Southwest Baptist, 8-1, finished with five players in double figures led by 20 points from Erika Souza. The Bearcats hit 60 percent of their shots in the second half while outscoring the Cougars 59-36 over the final 20 minutes.
         SIUE returns home for its own tournament at the Vadalabene Center. The Cougars face Wayne State at 3 p.m. Dec. 29 and follow that up with a matchup against Ferris State at 3 p.m. Dec. 30.
