Quincy Drops Cougars

         QUINCY -- Despite a 9-for-9 shooting performance from senior Alisa Carrillo, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fell 68-64 at Quincy Tuesday night at Pepsi Arena.
         The loss evened SIUE's record at 12-12 and 6-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, dealing a blow for the Cougars' chances of earning a spot in next month's GLVC Tournament. Quincy held its ground and improved to 17-7 overall and 11-5 in the GLVC.
         The Cougars held an eight-point lead in the first half but watched it evaporate to a five-point deficit by halftime. Quincy led 37-32 at halftime.
         SIUE tied the score three times in the second half but never took the lead against the Hawks.
         Carrillo led all scorers with 21 points. Julianne McMillen added 15 for the Cougars. Deidra Dace grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and scored six points.
         Alicia Ordner powered the Quincy attack with 17 points.
         SIUE shot well from the field, hitting 51 percent of its shots. Quincy hit nearly 48 percent but throttled the Cougars with 7-of-14 shooting from three-point range.
         The Cougars are now idle until Saturday when it faces Southern Indiana at the Vadalabene Center. Tip-off time is 1 p.m.
