McMillen, Fogle Lift Cougars

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Julianne McMillen's double-double and Allison Fogle's career-high five three-pointers sparked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to a 72-63 win over Bellarmine Saturday afternoon at the Vadalabene Center.
         McMillen finished with 14 points grabbing 10 rebounds. Fogle netted a team-high 17 points going 5-8 from behind the three-point arc while grabbing eight rebounds.
         It was the first win for the Cougars over Bellarmine since defeating the Knights 78-75 on Nov. 24, 2001.
         SIUE has won four of its last six games as the Cougars go to 11-10 overall and 5-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Bellarmine falls to 9-12 overall and 5-8 in the league.
         The Knights led 10-4 with 15:13 to go in the first half, before SIUE went on a 15-5 run capped by a McMillen jumper to lead 19-15. The Cougars then used a 12-6 run over the last 7:46 of the half to lead 37-28 at half time.
         An Allison Fogle jumper gave the Cougars a 47-35 advantage with 15:22 left in the game. An 18-7 run by Bellarmine trimmed the Cougars lead to 53-51 with 8:21 to go in the contest. The Cougars scored the next five points and never let the lead slip below four points the rest of the way.
         The Cougars shot 46.4 percent (26-56) from the field and 46.7 percent (7-15) from beyond the three-point line. The Knights netted 38.6 percent (22-57) of their shots from the field.
         Becky Tenholder scored nine points grabbing five rebounds. Deidra Dace had eight points and Whitney Sykes netted seven.
         Dana Beaven led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds. Beaven was 9-for-13 shooting going 2 for 3 from the three-point line and 6 of 7 from the charity stripe.
         SIUE returns to action next Thursday at the Cougars begin a three-game road trip traveling to Missouri-St. Louis at 5:30 p.m.
