         ST. LOUIS, MO. -- Deidra Dace netted a game-high 16 points, but it wasn't enough as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fell to Missouri St. Louis 65-48 Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
         The Cougars shot just 26.4 percent (14-53) from the field and 11.8 percent (2-17) from beyond the three-point arc in the game.
         Dace went 4 of 7 from the field and 8 for 13 from the free throw line as she grabbed seven rebounds.
         SIUE drops to 11-11 overall and 5-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Riverwomen go to 13-9 overall and 6-8 in the league.
         The team battle back and forth in the first half with UMSL gaining a 22-20 advantage with 4:23 left in the half. The Riverwomen then went on a 13-3 run to head into the break with a 35-25 lead.
         The Cougars trimmed the UMSL lead with 37-30 with 16:12 left in the second half. The UMSL then went on a 16-4 run that was capped by a Crystal Lambert three-pointer that gave the Riverwomen a 53-34 advantage.
         SIUE outrebounded UMSL 39-37 in the game. Missouri-St. Louis shot 43.6 percent (24-55) from the field and 50 percent (6-12) from behind the three-point line.
         Julianne McMillen netted nine points grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Dana Beaven led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds. Beaven was 9-for-13 shooting going 2 for 3 from the three-point line and 6 of 7 from the charity stripe.
         SIUE returns to action Saturday traveling to Missouri-Rolla for a contest with the Miners at 1 p.m.
