No. 5 Cougars Break Win Streak Record

         WHEELING, W.V. - The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville softball set a new standard.
         With a 6-0 win over Salem International and a 5-0 triumph over West Virginia Wesleyan, the SIUE softball team broke the school record for consecutive wins at 24, previously set in 1997. The No. 5-ranked Cougars now stand 27-3 on the season and face tournament host West Liberty State and Gannon on Sunday.
         Coach Sandy Montgomery and her Cougars picked up their 14th shutout of the season in game one. Kaitlin Colosimo improved her season record to 8-0 with a two-hitter.
         Alicia DeShasier, who led all Cougars with five hits on Saturday, blasted a solo home run in the first inning. It was her team-leading fifth home run of the season and the 15th of her career, which is sixth on the all-time list at SIUE.
         In the nightcap, Sabra McCune scattered five hits to improve her pitching record to 14-2. SIUE picked up three hits from DeShasier and shortstop Kaeleigh Rousey.
