GOLDEN, COLO. -- No. 4-ranked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and No. 12-ranked Colorado Mines fought to a 1-1 tie in men's college soccer action Sunday.
         SIUE, 0-1-1, picked up a second-half goal from John Matthews, off a corner kick from Victor Pacheco at 79:37.
         The assist for Pacheco was the 24th of his career. He remains third on the all-time list at SIUE but now needs one more to tie John Stremlau for second all-time. John Carenza holds the school record at 29.
         Matthews' goal was the lone highlight of the day for the Cougars, which were outshot by Colorado Mines 12-7.
         Colorado Mines got on the scoreboard first with a goal nearly three minutes into the second half. Craig Thompson scored off an assist by Daniel Lockley.
         Nicholas Frasca was in goal for the Cougars and posted six saves. Kevin Galloway was credited with one save.
         SIUE now returns home for a match Friday against Christian Brothers. Game time is 7 p.m. at Korte Stadium.
