Falls to USI 63-54

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball team lost a nail bitter Thursday night against the No. 5 ranked University of Southern Indiana 63-54 at the Vadalabene Center.
         The Cougars fell to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in the Great Lakes Conference while USI went to 16-1 overall and 5-1 in the GLVC.
         SIUE came back from a 17-point deficit at the end of the first half, coming within two points of USI before falling short in the second half.
         Turnovers put an end to the Cougars. USI scored 20 points off SIUE turnovers while the Cougars managed just four points off USI turnovers.
         The Cougars were led by J.B Jones, who played tough while putting up 21 points, five rebounds and two steals.
         Asa Clayborne was another big factor in SIUE's comeback knocking down two big three-pointers late in the second half, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds.
         Mike Hardiek was the other Cougar to break double figures with 11 points and five rebounds.
         USI was led by Rashard Sullivan who had 16 points with eight assists along with two others in double figures.
         SIUE next plays Kentucky Wesleyan next Saturday at the Vadalabene Center with a tip-off time of 3 p.m.
