ROLLA, MO. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hit 7 of 8 free throws in the overtime period to clip Missouri-Rolla in women's Great Lakes Valley Conference basketball Thursday night.
         The Cougars improved to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the GLVC but nearly lost the game in regulation. The Cougars led 57-56 with 11 seconds left. Missouri-Rolla's Tamara McCaskill drew a foul with one second left, made the first free throw and then missed the second to send the game into overtime.
         SIUE finished with four players in double figures led by a double-double from Allison Fogle. The sophomore hit four three-pointers, scoring 17 points totals. She also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.
         Julianne McMillen continued her quest to become the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 points. Her 13 points pushed her to No. 18 on the all-time list with 923 points.
         Amber Shelton and Whitney Sykes, SIUE's top two scorers this season, recorded 12 points each.
         Nicole Dierking led Missouri-Rolla with 22 points, including a three-pointer in overtime. Dierking, however, missed a pair of key three-pointers in the final seconds of the overtime period. McCaskill added 15 points for the Miners, which fell to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in the GLVC.
         In the overtime period, SIUE was clutch with four different free throw shooters. McMillen, Sykes, Fogle and Julie Sweetin hit free throws for SIUE. Only McMillen and Amy Austin scored field goals in the first half of the extra period.
         SIUE next heads to Missouri-St. Louis for a 5:30 p.m. game Saturday.
