Stingy Cougars Blank Quincy

          EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer recorded its fourth shutout in the last five games with a 3-0 triumph over Quincy Sunday at Korte Stadium.
          The Cougars collected their fifth straight victory and improved their record to 10-2-1 overall. SIUE cemented its standing in the GLVC race, holding at second place behind undefeated and top-ranked Northern Kentucky. With the win, the No. 15-ranked Cougars, 9-1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, will be the host for a quarterfinal game in the GLVC tournament on Sunday, Oct. 28, against an opponent to be determined.
          SIUE blanketed Quincy Sunday with a strong defense and a steady offensive attack. Greg Crook collected his fifth shutout of season with one save. SIUE outshot Quincy 12-6. Quincy fell to 11-4-1 overall with the loss and 7-4 in GLVC play.
          Dustin Attarian scored his 10th goal of the season at 33:03 on a shot set up by an SIUE corner kick.
          Kevin Bielicki put SIUE up 2-0 with a 20-yard shot past QU goalkeeper Kyle Dillman at 78:56. Tim Weir was credited with the assist.
          Bob Ridder scored his fourth goal of the season when he took advantage of a 2-on-1 break. Matt Harris passed the ball from the right flank to the front of the goal for Ridder.
          SIUE now has two games remaining in the regular season at Saint Joseph's this Friday and at Indianapolis Sunday.
