Gray, Cougars Pound Robert Morris

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- T.J. Gray hit eight three-pointers and Leonard Parker tied the Vadalabene Center record for assists as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball rolled to a 107-85 victory over Robert Morris Tuesday.
         SIUE improved to 2-1 with a spectacular display beyond the arc, hitting 14 of 27 shots overall. Gray was 8 of 11 for a team-leading 26 points.
         Seven different players finished in double figures for SIUE. Anthony Jones was next with 14 points followed by Jeremy Gathing (13), Saihou Jassey (11), Nikola Bundalo (11), Stephen Jones (10) and Doug Taylor (10). The Cougar bench outscored Robert Morris' bench 52-22.
         Parker tied Brian Karvinen's 1992 VC record with 14 assists, 11 of which came in the first half.
         After outscoring Robert Morris 57-41 in the first half, the 100-point mark seemed inevitable for the Cougars. SIUE, which led by as much as 35 points in the second half, shot 56.2 percent for the game after shooting nearly 65 percent in the first half. The Cougars improved to 75-3 all-time when scoring 100 or more points.
         Robert Morris led by two points less than two minutes into the game but could not match the depth of the Cougars. Corley Lee led the Eagles with 29 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
         SIUE is now idle until Thursday, Nov. 29, when it plays host to Bellarmine in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Vadalabene Center.
