SIUE Thrashes Robert Morris

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville easily improved its record to 5-2 Wednesday with an 87-39 drubbing of Robert Morris at the Vadalabene Center.
         Amber Jordan, who had not scored in SIUE's first six games, recorded five three-pointers and was the game's leading scorer with 15 points. The junior guard from Kansas City, Mo., hit 5 of 7 from three-point range as SIUE's hit a season-high 11 three-pointers.
         Whitney Sykes hit four more three-pointers for the Cougars and was second in scoring with 12 points. Sykes' seven rebounds also tied for the team lead with Jessie Stapleton.
         SIUE was in control early. After being down 8-7 with 15:05 to play in the first half, Amy Austin opened the scoring surge with a three-pointer at 14:54. SIUE went on to dominate the rest of the first half 40-6.
         Amber Shelton and Brittany Imig joined their SIUE teammates in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
         Stephanie Brake and Katie Fleetwood were the top scorers for Robert Morris with 11 each.
         The Cougars shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. Robert Morris was held to 29.3 percent shooting and 20 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
         SIUE is now idle until Dec. 15 when it travels to Oakland City for a 1 p.m. game in Oakland City, Ind.
